How does the nutrition label scanner work?
You take a photo of any nutrition label — packaged food, supplements, anything. Our AI reads the text, parses macros and micros, cross-references the ingredient list, and surfaces actionable insights like additives to watch or nutrient pairings that can improve absorption.
Is Verdik a replacement for medical advice?
No. Verdik provides educational nutrition information based on peer-reviewed research and publicly available data. It is not a medical device and should not be used to diagnose, treat, or manage any health condition. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
What's included in the free trial?
The 7-day free trial gives you full access to all Premium features — unlimited scans, unlimited claim checks, full food explorer, and premium articles. You won't be charged until day 8, and you can cancel any time before then.
What platforms does Verdik support?
Verdik is available on iOS. The nutrition label scanner requires a camera.
How is evidence quality rated?
Each article is reviewed and tagged: Strong Evidence (systematic reviews, RCTs), Emerging Research (promising but preliminary data), or Opinion (expert commentary, mechanistic reasoning). The rating is shown prominently so you always know what you're reading.
How does the Claim Checker actually work?
Today, the Claim Checker uses Claude AI with a system prompt that instructs it to weigh peer-reviewed journals (Cochrane, BMJ, NEJM, AJCN, JAMA, The Lancet), systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and government health agencies (NIH, USDA, FDA, CDC, WHO) over blogs, social media, podcasts, and influencer commentary. Verdicts are AI-generated from training data — not retrieved from a live source database. v1.1 (in active development) will add real PubMed source grounding: every verdict will cite the specific studies behind it, with tap-to-read references. We do not currently market verdicts as "cited" — that capability arrives in v1.1.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store. You can cancel at any time through your subscription settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
